Built from the 9th to 14th centuries, the 200 temple complex is one of the wonders of the world. Masterful sculptures and intricate bas reliefs bring the past alive. Angkor Wat, the largest temple, is near the small, sleepy village of Siem Reap.
Weather:
The dry season, November through March, is ideal for a visit to the Angkor temples. Bring lots of film to capture the beauty.
What to Wear:
Wear light comfortable clothes and sturdy walking shoes. Use high concentrate DEET repellent, long sleeves and pants to avoid mosquito bites.
Language:
Khmer is the official language. English is understood in the major cities.

A one-month tourist visa is available on arrival at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap Airport for US$25 cash. Bring 3 passport-size photos. Tipping is not expected but always greatly appreciated if you meet with exceptional service. Salaries remain very low in Cambodia and service is often excellent because the Cambodians are very hospitable.
What to Buy:
Fantastic wood-carvings, mother-of-pearl inlay lacquerware, silk, temple paintings and silver filigree items are all great bargains.
